Is this a notebook or a PC? Why do you want it to enter standby ? Why do you not want to turn it off if not needed?

Can you determine what is assigned com2? Your mouse, modem, what?
A com port is a virtual thing, it is a combination of resources and serial to parrallel conversion .

    ComPort2 driver

    It is a PC
i do not WANT it to go to Standby, just to scrolling message on desktop
I check it every 30-45 minutes for messages, too much nonsense to shut down then reboot
Went into control panel, nothing on com 2 port

There's never a need for standby on a desktop PC; you should open the power options heading in control panel and set all options to never, although if you wish you can set it to turn off the monitor after a time. There's also a BIOS setting for this, but I leave it unset, to manage the power settings in software.

Standby is for power saving when you're on battery power.

The error message you get re: com2 sounds spurious, or not meaningful. COM ports are now usually on the motherboard and drivers for them are included with the motherboard drivers, on a CD if it's custom built.

O.K. :D i went into control panel and set it to never, it was set at " "go to standby after 15 minutes ".. I never changed it..
Now maybe that annoying message will go away.
    Thanks
