When I try to shut down windows, and after I click on the start>turn off. The hour glass stays on the screen for a might long time, before the shut down appears on the monitor?

Can someone help me? I used the search options on the forum, but I can't seem to find anything pertaining to my problem.

    Thanks in advance.

    1st thought.

Check now many things are running in the background when you go to shut down. The more stuff running the longer it takes for Windows to shut down.

Sometimes it is not how much but what.

    CharlesVar,
The only thing that I can remember I did, was re-installed Windows XP home edition.

    Hi WesternKY,

You check by bringing up the Task Manager, ctrl + shift + esc keys in that sequence > Process Tab.

Click on the Image Name column heading and it will put the processes in sequence by name.

Then check them against the DB's I referenced in my earlier post.

To see your startups: Start > run > type msconfig > ok > startup tab.

    Regards - Charles
