    Hi all,

I would like a list of options when I startup, or restart my computer.

I once know how, might be having a seasoned citizen moment.

The list could be something like this:

    Start normal windows
    Start in Safe mode
    bios
    etc.
    etc.
    etc.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Tom

    Tom,

This is all built in to the computer ....

On start up, immediately the POST (Power On Self Test) screen comes up hit F8 repeatedly to show a list of options ....

Normal - Safe Mode - Command Prompt, etc

To enter the BIOS hit Del or F1 repeatedly at the same stage to enter Setup - believe it is F2 on Dell's.

    Pete,

Thanks, but I know you can hit f8 to bring up the list.

I would like the menu to start by default.

Is there a tweak that I could perform that would do just that?

    Thank you,

    Tom

I can't recall coming across anything like that - maybe someone else will have some ideas.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding Tom's original question, but the way I read it, it seems like it might be resolved by the steps in an old thread of mine at http://windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33653. After following the steps outlined in that thread, I left the settings so that for the remainder of my Windows ME computer's life, it always booted up with the option to start in Normal, Safe, "etc." (can't remember the other options, but #1 was Normal, and #3 was Safe Mode). Or does that method only work with Windows ME?

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the ideas.

When I get a chance I will try them.

I will post back the results.

    Thank you,

    Tom

    Hi All,

Sorry I did't get back to you sooner.

I tried the ideas that were suggested.

I had no luck with one or the other.

I'm not going to concern myself with it right now.

I may try again early next year.

    Thanks again,

    Tom

    Marry Christmas!
