I have 2 computers, with XP SP2. Both Compaq. 1, 4 years old, and the other new. Reloaded XP SP2 on the old one, (it had XP SP1). Added a wireless card on both. Never had the problem on the old one before, and do not have the problem on the new one. On the old one I can change settings on the Taskbar, Customize Notifications, and changes to my Opera Browser Appearances. When I leave each and come back, everything is back the way it was before the changes. Ran defrag, virus, and spyware removers. Each is uptodate. No change. Very annoying!!

Try the "Save Settings on Exit" registry fix on Kelly's Korner, line 54, right-hand column.

Old computer is setup to save settings. New computer is setup to not save settings. Settings change when I close Opera browser. Do not need to shutdown to change settings. The Taskbar, Customize Notifications, is now saving settings. Have not done anything to make that happen. Go figure!

I spoke too soon. The Taskbar, Customize Notifications problem is back. Shut the computer down over night. I guess it had plenty of time to mess up again. Of course Opera Problem is still there.

Yesterday I reinstalled Opera. Since then it has saved changes. The Customize Notifications still saves changes. Still do not know what did it, but I will take what I can get. So for now we can call the problem corrected. I may have another problem, but I will save that for later.
