    Greetings,

I'm trying to connect to the d$ share on a windows xp pro sp1 computer from a windows 2000 pro sp4 computer. The username/password login is presented however it is not accepting my administrative credentials which I am sure are correct. Neither computer is running a firewall, both computers have file and print sharing enabled, they are both in the same workgroup, and both are fully patched. I can, however, connect to the d$ share on the Windows 2000 pro computer from the Windows XP Pro computer - strange. Can someone please explain?

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hi Nick and welcome.

Assuming that both XP machines have that exact username & password and that the account has admin rights on both, it should be working.

Make sure Simple File Sharing is turned off on both PCs. Then try adding new, identical admin accounts to both the XP systems and see if it works then. If it does, you have one issue and if it does not, you have another.
