Question. When upgradeing from windows 98 to 2000 Pro, do you need the CD if you already have the setup files on your hdd? I already made the 4 boot disks it asked me to make. But Do I need the Windows 2000 setup CD in the CD-ROM drive to fully install?

Nope. You shouldn't even need the 4 floppy disks unless you plan to do a clean (format, install) load of 2K rather than just an upgrade over 98.

    Hi,
in this case please ensure you have copied all files of i386 folder and as now you are no longer able to boot , you have to now use those floppies but it wont make you install upgrade from 98 to 2000 , you can then start you pc with win98 bootable floppy and then copy / transfer system to you hdd and then boot your system in 98 and again start installation if it will not start installation ..

    :)
    HTH
    Regards
