Hi maybe someone out there has tried.
I am setting up an old fast dv master on win 2k. i know it can be done albeit without a true win 2k driver. but the people that have managed to do it have set irq 10 for the card.
i have tried every config with my tyan tiger 2507 mobo but the agp matrox g450 always claims irq 10. i am very desperate now to find an answer.
i tried the suggestions from windows but i could not access the resources settings via device management. i mean where u make changes to memory and irq
i have moved things around so much that it seems impossible.
    please help me
    david

Have you tried turning off plug & pray before doing the setup? This might allow you to change the video card to another resource.

And take a look at Q252420 General Description of IRQ Sharing in Windows 2000 which gives reasons 2K can't do some of the tricks 98 could. Besides which, I think the IRQ sharing scheme is PCI only and your vid isn't.

Since all the links for this product seem now to point to Pinnacle, I tried to get information from their site but the closest I could come was the FastStudio.DV (which is probably a very different product but video at this level isn't anything I'm familiar with). You might have some luck with This page which includes a discussion group for the FastStudio product and might have some gurus hanging around that can solve your Fast DV Master question. It looks to have been a super product (with a $3 to $4 thousand price tag) so should be well worth some fiddling. Maybe even worth getting a different video card if you can't make the matrox G450 behave with it.

thank you for that reply. however, i have tried many options and have just about given up. so when you say turn off pnp you mean in the services part of comp management is that correct?
if so i have tried that and it would not boot past the logon window. it just stopped booting, or is it that i did something wrong?
i am considering purchasing a new card, but as you say, the dv master cost me $3,500US and it is very hard to retire it yet.
also i have read in wwug.com forums that it can be done but they are old posts and no one is replying now.
i am pretty sick of the whole affair now but i need to work and i need to get it working.
    best regards
    david

    IRQ

As you've figured out W2K handles IRQ's differently. What you can do is when you are installing W2K during the CD boot sequence when it asks you to push F6 for additional drivers push F5 and you'll get a screen asking asking what kind of computer configuration you would like. One of the selections is something like traditional PC. It will then use a different HAL and your components will be on diffrent IRQ's just like the good ole days.

thank you for the quick response. however i have already reconfigured my comp to be a standard pc, not acpi/hal which my dv master capture card does not support.
i have moved the card around to many different slots without success. after changing the config to standard pc you still can't access via device management the box that gives the choice of use automatic settings. the box is shaded so no change available. just another q. why is it necessary to use irq 10, is it due to dma or something? it's just that other users have managed to get it working, by setting that irq.so do i.
i would appreciate your help so much to resolve this problem
    thank you in advance

David - sorry but the hardware stuff scrambles my brain pretty quickly. I really have never been able to understand that stuff.

If you don't get a good answer, you might want to consider setting your PC to dual boot with an OS that the card does work with.

If you want to use the product of (whatever the thing does) with 2K, it shouldn't be a problem since 2K will deal nicely with FAT16/32 partitions which you will be using with the older OS.
