Over the past few months I have noticed an increasing tendency for Outlook to freeze on starting - the program either starts up and shows the folders, but then appears to hang for 2-3 minutes while showing "(not responding)" in the Title bar, OR you can see Outlook as a minimized program in the task bar, but nothing seems to happen for a couple of minutes.

Once the program finally has loaded, everything appears to work normally for the rest of the day. If I close the program and the restart it, it works fine - just start up first thing.

I have un-installed and re-installed the program, but this doesn't appear to have helped.

I have reviewed any start up programs and have Norton anti-virus up to date, plus run SpywareBlaster, Adaware and SpyBot Search & Destroy.

Outlook 2000, with Office 2000 on Win XP Home, Svc Pack 2, Dell Dimension 3000, Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, 512 MB memory

Any suggestions of what I should look for or any registry tweaks would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    RobF

Do you have a large number of rules set up? I do and mine behaves this way - long pause while it sorts through all the new posts and applies rules as needed.

I di have3 about 60 rules and should probably delete some of them that aren't as relevant as when I made them. I'll try turning off all the rules over the next few days and see if it makes any difference. Thanks,

I did try this, but it didn't seem to do much. I have just upgraded to Office 2003 and hopefully this will fix this

However I have a couple of Outlook 2003 questions which I will now post

    Thanks
