I am going to purchase a Transend USB Flash Drive, but uncertain as to the size I should consider. They range from 64 MB to 4 GB. The main purpose of the purchase is so I can port Firefox and Thunderbird to use on my daughter's PC as I am the in-house techie (are we in trouble or what).

Is anyone using one now, if so, I would be most grateful if you care to share your experience, and thanks!

    The bigger the better.
I started with a Kingston 512, then went to a 1 gig, and now have the Kingston Data Traveler Elite 2 gig.

I have all my PC utilities on them for quick installation on to ailing PCs.

Thanks Scott! Do you mind sharing which drive (brand) you are using? If so, don't worry, as I am cross eyed from reading reviews. They all seem to point to the Transend 2A for overall performance.

Thanks again for the speedy response. :D

re porting firefox and thunderbird using usb drives:

I use portable Firefox and Portable Thunderbird on my usb stick. It works flawlessly! Check it out here:
    http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/portable_firefox/

my stick is 128mb and it contains the above along with a few antivirus apps and all my antispyware tools.

512mb would be better suited for other portable apps like portable openoffice, etc.

I got my stick free from MS and it doubles as an mp3 player, but I never use it for that. Were I to buy one, I'd get at least a 512 if not a 1 gb.

Ramona--Sunday circulars for stores like Staples, Office Max, etc. almost always have "rebate" offers on Flash Drives. This site may help you find the current deals.

Thanks loads Tony, Scott, and Jim! I am already using Firemonger on CD, and have downloaded TB portable, so all I need is the flash drive. I really appreciate everyone's feedback! :)

FWIW, I decided on a 2 GB drive, sort of in the middle. Here is one of the excellent reviews it was given:

Tom's Hardware: USB High Speed Flash Drives

Much less expensive at Newegg than retail stores in my area, Best Buy, CompUSA, etc. Even the sale items/specials were more expensive...
