    300 Gig H/Disk

Is there a limit to how big a drive you can use on an external firewire h/d case. I have tried to use a 300 gig drive in this enclosure but Xp will not see it as 300 gig, it only see's 130 gig of it. If I put the drive on the secondry ide cable inside the pc it see's it as the full 300 gigs.

I have even tried all the different jumper settings as well to avail.

    Any help or idea's please.

    Flack..

No limit AFAIK - Maxtor One Touch external hard drives run to 300 Gb on both USB and Firewire - and their latest model is 1 TB in RAID formation - also Firewire.

I use a 200 Gb Maxtor One Touch firewire drive with no problem on XP SP2 and the whole drive is recognised.

I really don't know enough of the in's and out's of firewire to comment further :(

I could be that your external Firewire case doesn't have a chipset that supports the full 300 GB capacity. If it's an older case that's probably the problem. 130 GB is one of those capacity barrier numbers.

    300 gig drive

I know it supports a higher capacity drive because the drive I had in it before was a 160 gig and it recognised all of that drive, its just this drive that it won't recognise the whole of it.

I have read that certain Intel chips have this problem but my chipset is not in the list according to Maxtor's site..
