    XP Home, SP2.

When a program is removed (using the add/remove) but an icon is left in the
control panel, is there a way to get rid of that icon?

Not just to hide it but delete it......

    Thanks,
    savagcl

Search for files with *.cpl in \Windows\System32 (or \System). You may have to 'unhide' them to see them.

    Be careful what you delete!

In my haste to reply I should have said "rename or move the file" not "delete it" until you're satisfied that everything is working properly.
