I recently added the search and destroy spybot software. I ran the program today after I ran Ad-Adware. The Spybot shows I have Windows Security Center Anti Virus Disable Notify and Back Web Lite. There are about 51 files under the Back Web Lite. I have no idea what that is or what to do about it. Should I selct fix it for this or leave it?

chickbull--Of possible help concerning "Windows Security Center Anti Virus Disable Notify "
    http://www.google.com/search?source...ws+Security+Center+Anti+Virus+Disable+Notify"
It would seem you can keep this one.
Concerning Back Web Lite, see the first two references here
    http://www.google.com/search?source...rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-31,GGLD:en&q=Back+Web+Lite
It would seem that you can delete this one, but backup first in case you decide you want to restore.
You can also run AdAware SE Personal
    http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
    and see what it recommends.

I also have the backweb lite come up on SSD.

I found out that HP uses this to check for updates on my PC. Also McAfee uses this as a scan checking to see if it's software (virusscan 9) is up to date.
    From another thread I posted.....http://windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=44234
    What I found....
From the backweb developer: Compaq, HP, McAffee, F-Secure, Western Digital, Logitech, Kodak and IBM are some of BackWeb´s customers. Each of these vendors bundles a customized BackWeb client into their products that are then shipped to their end users. These companies use the BackWeb client to distribute drivers, software updates, patches and critical information from a secure server at their site directly to their users' hard-drives.

Since I don't have McAfee and I did have Kodak, which I deleted, I went ahead and deleted the backweb lite. So I hope I'm OK. I kept Windows Security Center Anti Virus Disable Notify. Do you know what it does?

chickbull--I think it is a tool that monitors whether or not you have antivirus running at startup. Sounds like something quite helpful. Can't imagine why SpybotS&D alerts you to its presence.

I've gotten the same threats before too.

Why does Spybot-S&D flag changes in the Windows Security Center?

Left click on Windows Security Center to hightlight >
then right click on it > Exclude this product from further searches

    More detail

What Antivirus do you have? Many use back web lite as a means of updating virus definitions and news. If you can locate the full file names associatied with back web lite, they may well contain the name of your anti-virus program...if so, do not delete or mess with back web lite.
