Using my Admin, account i and installed Office 2003 on a Windows XP SP2 PC. I downloaded all updates and patches. I and everything worked fine using my account.

However, when my wife who has a limited account tried to run the program
the Windows Installer takes off and goes through an install process just like
it did the first time I installed Office. But this "initial install" never completes. Also, I get an error message that says "One of your object libraries
(stdole32.tlb) is missing or damaged. Please run setup to install it
    ".
I've checked the C:Windows System32 folder and found that stdole32.tlb exists,
If i change my wifes account to have Admin rights the program runs fine with no error message, it appears to be a permission problem but i don't know were to go next any help would be welcome.

I think there is an install option that basically asks about making the app available to the installing user only or to all users. If so, that would take care of the problem.

You can probably clear things up short of an uninstall/reinstall of Office by adding her account to the Office folder with Power User rights to that folder. Worth a try anyway.

I don't know if I'm right but I have a similar problem and I solved it don't know if i will work for you. here it goes... in the desktop program icon you can see almost all microsoft office programs then by choosing on of the program just press the shift + right click then go to run as option then choose administrator account click ok. Or better like what NEWT says let it be a member of power users account its the best thing to do

Runas works fine but if the admin account is passworded, the Runas user needs to know it and often that isn't such a great idea.

Runas would instantly become about 50 times more useful if there was a good way to set it up to automatically use the password but mask it so the user didn't see it.
