Every 60 seconds or so I get a pop-up from Symantec saying a security risk was found and the treat was Trojan.Vundo.B. Sometimes it just denies access, sometimes it quarantines, sometimes it deletes. It happens literally every 60 seconds. I ran the virus' removal as per Symantec's website, and it says it couldn't find the virus on my computer.
Additionally, my computer is slower than usual and almost jumpy - sometimes it stops in the middle of my typing and scrolling. Also, when I use a search engine with IE, everytime I click on a link, it leads me to a random advertising site.

You guys were so helpful to me once before, I really appreciated it. Anything you could help me with now would be great.
    Thanks so much.

Check Quicklinks in my signature to locate an online virus scan site and run a scan from the site. It will let you know for sure about a virus and allow removal if one is found.

I'm no sort of spyware/malware/virus expert and will leave a detailed analysis of your HJT log to one who is. I will direct your attention to This short article so you can decide if you want to keep

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
    • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
    • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
    • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
    • You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.
      it should look like this
    • At this point press enter one time.
    • Next you will see:
    • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqro.dll
    • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
    • Next you will see:
    • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\orqss.dll
    • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
    • The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
    • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
      • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://bfc.myway.com/search/de_srchlft.html
        R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll
        O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4D25F921-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll
        O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqro.dll

        O20 - Winlogon Notify: ssqro - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqro.dll
    • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
    • Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
    • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
    Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
    Click "Options... "
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp! "
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
    • Empty Recycle Bins
    • Delete Cookies
    • Delete Prefetch files
    • Cleanup! All Users
    Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

When the scan completes, click Save Report and place it on the desktop. Post the contents of that report here, along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

How come nobody ever mentions cleaning up System Restore along with cleaning out the infection ?

SR can be used to fix a problem = Ture.

But it also has the capacity to but one back=True.

And many programs such as the one suggest may well make and RP before it does its job. And said RP would more than likely contain the infection.

I done all the scanning and safe mode-ing, and here's my new HJT file, though after I ran the ActiveScan, I could not find an option to save report.

Though I'm still having a weird problem - whenever I use a search engine in IE, if I click on a link it doesn't direct me to the intended site, but instead to some weird advertisement.

Oh, and BB - I cleaned out my System Restore.

Billybob, traditionally, unless the specific cleanup requires disabling system restore as part of the process ; we wait until we feel that the cleanup is successful and the computer is working well to tell the user to clean out system restore. This way if they do something wrong or something goes horribly wrong, there is one more option to recover and start again.

Vundu looks gone, just one thing to clean up. Either it came back or your missed it.
Please go to add/ remove programs in control panel. If you see myway, mysearch, mybar or anything similar, uninstall it.
    http://www.trendmicro.com/cwshredder/
    Please download and run cwshredder.

Please boot to safe mode this time
How to boot to safe mode
Please run hijackthis with all other windows closed . Choose scan only , and put a check by these and choose fix.

    How to show hidden files

Make sure you have view hidden and system files enabled, uncheck hide protected files, uncheck hide known file extensions.
    Locate and delete
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ifvjsdhs.dll

Empty all Temp folders (delete all files within):

    C:\Documents and Settings\(profile)\Local Settings\Temp\
    C:\Windows\Temp\
    C:\Temp\ (if it exists)

Go to: Control Panel > Internet Options
General tab > Temporary Internet Files > Delete Files:
Checkmark "Delete all offline content "
    Click OK

    How to disable system restore
Please disable system restore, reboot to normal mode and run hijackthis again , choose scan only.
If that entry reappears let us know. If it stays gone, reenable system restore and create a new restore point, you are now clean.
How did I get infected in the first place

That makes sense to me. And is just about the way I do it.

But if all is OK, I wait no more than a day or two and then cleanup up SR.

Also it pays to NAME the RPs.

In fact this AM I did a SR using a RP ( B4 RM SS ) made yesterday before fixing up a video problem that was cause by a certain ScreenSaver. ( and OLD one ) Problem was back. Used a RP that I made after the cleaning and all is OK again.

Till the next mess up by Yours Truely.

I tried to remove the MyWay search assistant, but it said Error Specific Module Could Not Be Found.
