I have a windows 2000 terminal server running and when i connect to it I would like for the TS to install the drivers for my networked printer. I understand that microsoft has never included this option with terminal server (printing to your local ports is ok) by design. Even in the microsoft help website, it tells you that you can't do this and should buy Citrix which can. Is there any freeware out there that will allow me to print to my network printer through terminal server?

Well, we have Terminal Service running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server and I can create and print to a network printer when logged onto Terminal Services. Are you sure Microsoft's says you cannot do so? What's the link you're reading this?

In Q264039 there is also a note half way down that states that you can map the network printer to a local port and it will be redirected as long as there is no local device on this port.

Ah ok, my bad. I was misunderstanding what your issue was. To answer your question now, I'm not aware of any freeware to do what you need to do. It figures that TS cannot do it but Citrix can since TS is simply a light version of Citrix. I guess they limit the functionality of TS so you get teased and want to spend the $$$ for Citrix.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry, I posted it by mistake here, It was ment to be a reply
For another question about sharing drives...
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,

I think a better choise would be to use WtsFtp.
You can find it at: http://www.ibexsoftware.com

This software lets you see both the server and client
drives and transfer files between them.
It removes the need for using RDClip or DriveShare
You don't need to open additional ports, it works with TS.
It also works with a web client.

    Hope this helps
