Netscape 8 bookmark icons

I have been using Netscape 8.0.3.3 for over a week now and I am very impressed with it's layout, speed, options and tools. The last version I used for many years was 5.0 - a long way back from this 8.0.
One thing I was able to do with 5.0 that I cannot find in 8.0 was to use icons
on a local hard drive for the bookmark url's in my profile.
I have searched this site and the web to no avail.
Suggestions please anyone ?

As for the green underline, yes, if you are willing to pay $19.95/yr to be a Contributing member. There has been a recent interminable thread pertaining to this, started by "ackerberg ".
Did you seriously use a version 5.0? 5.0 was never issued, although some buggy preview builds had been available. 4.8 has been the last one of the old group, replaced by the completely rewritten 6, and then 7 group. NS7.2 was the last suite, and is no longer supported.
You must have noticed that NS8 is a browser only, and is based on Firefox, but can be used to view pages as IE.
I am not sure what type of icons you have in mind, nor where. There are Favicons, little icons next to name, and some do show up, and many don't.
for instance there is one at this website. And, the same icons will not show up if you drag and drop the icon on the desktop. You will see the icon of the default browser.

Could you elaborate a bit more, as I'm not clear to what you refer. If you want icons to show in the Bookmarks, then that is done in the "Customize" options:
Right click the Toolbar and select "Customize ".



If you are referring to the links underlined in green, you can't surpress them unless you become a Contributing Member. See this page for more information:
