I have an Apache server which I use to host a picture gallery of players at a game site I play at. I have one person who had sent a picture in several months ago and I put it on the site and she was able to view it with no problems. Several days ago she asked me to update the picture with a new one so I replaced the existing picture with the new one using the same file name. Now when she views her picture she still sees the old one but I don't know how because I don't have the old one on my computer any longer. Can anyone explain how this is possible or if there is anything I can do to correct it?
    Thanks

This could be cache related. Try asking her to refresh the screen. Also if she is using XP, by default IE has a HUGE cache size. Try making the size smaller.

Can you see the new pictures..ie..is she the only one seeing the old pictures.

    Front Page.....

I can see the new picture and someone that I asked in another country can also see the new picture. I had read about cache before and I found that if I put the following tag: <META HTTP-EQUIV= "Pragma" CONTENT= "no-cache "> on the pages it would solve the problem. However I also read that this might not work with IE ver 6 so I didn't try it. So what you are saying is that their cache file might be too large? I currently use only 80Mb for my temp internet files but I know that the default is quite large. I use Pit Stop every so often to check the status of my computer and the 80Mb was the recommended size for the best results. I will pass this information on to the individual having the problems but I would appreciate it if someone could give me some information on that Meta tag above.
    Thanks

By process of elimination, it appears the problem lies in the browser of the person who cannot see. The cache I speak of has to do at that persons browser, not your page. IE and most other browsers keep a cache folder.

    IE...Tools>internet Options>General>Temporary Internet Files.

By holding files in a cache directory, "theoretically" browsing the interent is faster because small files like gif's and jpeg's which don't change often, are already on your system...provided you've been to that site previously.

It is these files I'm talking about !!!!

She needs to clear out her Temporary Internet Files.

    You are correct.

    did a google <META HTTP-EQUIV= "Pragma" CONTENT= "no-cache ">

plus tons more for you learn from :D
