    I've been trying to take a screenshot of a film because I wanted to use it as my wallpaper but it doesn't work? I keep getting blank screens whenever I paste the screenshot.

    I'm not sure if its illegal or anything cause if it is then nevermind but if it isnt is there a way to do it?

    I'm using Windows Media Player to play the film if that helps.

    While I'm sure there is probably a third party program that would accomplish any hoops your trying to jump through while trying to do this, see if what this person did will also will work for you:
    http://pchere.blogspot.com/2005/03/capture-images-from-windows-media.html
    Specifically....
    Open Window Media Player
    Then go to Tools>Options
    In Options, select the Performance Tab
    Way below you click on the Advanced Button

    Uncheck "Use Overlays'
    Click Ok
    And you are ready.

    Now run your movie in any size or screen resolution. Use the standard 'Print Screen Key' Method as described and you have captured a snapshot from your favourite movie on windows media player without using any special software.

    ==========
    I must add that I have not done this and my option to "use overlays" is still checked and enabled and I don't have a problem with "screen captures ". I just hit my keypad "print screen" key and paste into paint. From there I can save it and select it as wallpaper. I guess this option may only be problematic for some. In any case this is a quick and painless thing to try and is easily reversed. It's worth a shot.

    ========
    Additional choice or option:

    Not being sure of any future player performance changes this option would have, once I've accomplished my screen capture, I would remember to restore any option I had changed, while it is still fresh in my mind.
