I'm going to be reinstalling XP and this time I would like to use Intel Matrix for my SATA Hard Drive. It won't be in a Raid configuration but Matrix will improve drive performance even when not used with Raid and when I do utilize Raid in the future, the OS won't need to be reinstalled.
So...Does anyone have any tips or comments about doing this?
I know the Raid disks have to be used while installing the OS. Any step by step instructions? Change something in the BIOS?
    Thanks for any help.

Get the appropriate chipset drivers from http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-009247.htm and put them on a floppy.

When you start the XP install process you will be given a chance, very early on in the process, to load the specialized drivers. I've forgotten the exact dialog but it is pretty obvious when you see it.

Thanks for the reply. It's a brand new mobo with the 945G chipset. It came with the raid drivers on a floppy.
Let me be a bit more specific on what I'm trying to understand:) I read the manual and some of it was unclear. Since I'm only using 1 SATA disk w/ Matrix to enhance performance and make upgrading to a real Raid array in the future easy, do I still need to enter the Raid Configuration Utility? That's where the Raid level is specified and I don't want 0,1,5 or 10. I want to use a non-Raid disk for my setup, correct?
Any suggestions on using this type us setup?
    Thanks again!
