    Hello,
I have a new computer from Alienware. I have had to reinstall Windows XP twice because when I downloaded updated drivers for my logitek trackball it messed up the system. I got most of the problems fixed with the help from Alienware tech support and just have one left to be resolved and it seems to have them baffled too. When I go to the Device Manager and then exit, I get this message: "mmc.exe-application error The instruction at "0x1000935d" referenced memory at "0x009a0008" The memory could not be "read ".I also get the same message when I go to the help center and then exit, only the error is called helpcenter.exe-application error. The rest of the message is the same except the referenced memory is at "0x007e0008" .
I have no idea why it does this or what it means and I am hoping someone out there is familiar enough with this type of error message to point me in the right direction to solve it.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.
    Thank You

Are you running a GeForce card? If so, uninstall/reinstall the drivers but do do reinstall the nView program.

Try the uninstall/reinstall without nView and see what happens.

    Thanks Brett,
I tried Uninstall/Install without the nVu. That seems to have done the trick. I no longer get the error message. Now I'm really curious, why does not installing nView solve the problem?
Thanks again for your help :)

There was no racing yesterday and it was a slow day at the office :D

If a debugger (such as NTSD) is hooked to MMC.EXE, a problem within nView.dll is revealed - but only on some systems. I don't know why this should be the case or what can be done is resolve the issue (other than not to install nView!). Maybe you should refer the matter to nVidia and/or Alienware.
