When I paste someone else's MS Word document into one of mine, the pasted document picks up my document's styles, including heading numbering, and looks ridiculous. I tried to avoid this by pasting it into a new section at the end of my document, but it didn't work.

I would like the pasted document to look like it does in its original stand-alone form. Any suggestions how I can do that?

    Thanks.

After copying what you want to paste in, in Word click on Edit (up at the top), then on "Paste Special." In the dialog box, choose "Formatted Text (RTF)," make sure the "Paste" option is checked, click OK.
