CD on the fritz

    Last weekend my CD ROM drive mysteriously stopped working. The mystery is that I didn't update any drivers, nor were there any crashes. Just monday morning I booted up my computer and the drive wouldn't read CDs anymore :mad: .
    I'm on XP, if you need any more info just ask. I can't figure this one out so I'm asking for help :confused: .

    Try checking the internal connections.

    Everything is connected firmly, including the ribbon. Power is definitely connected because I can open and close the drive.

    Try with and without DMA enabled on this drive. Clean the lens (special cleaning disc required) and if its still a no go, its time to go shopping.
