This is a question I was asked to solve and as I use internet explorer 6. Am not sure how to answer the question so will ask one of you and see if you can help me.
It is internet explorer 5.5. At the top of the page where the search button is this certain page keeps coming up believe it says search engine 54. Now I want to get rid of this and use msn. how can I do this?
This is a company and the home page is the companys. I am not sure if that makes a difference. I am not sure if I explained this right or not hopefully you know what I am talking about. Thanks

maryelle--If this site is proprietary to the company, I think I would just put the URL for MSN (whatever other search engines) into my Links or Favorites.

Running the IE Repair Tool should restore the default search options (Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - MS IE - Repair).

Alternatively, you could make Google the default search engine.

I can now understand better what I was supposed to ask about Internet explorer 5.5. First of all they are using windows 2000. Internet explorer 5.5 and when the search button at top of page is hit the www.abc.com search 54 page comes up and this just happened a couple of months ago. What I need to know is how do I get rid of this search page and set the internet explorer back to normal. I cannot find out where internet explorer repair is on the windows 2000 or even if their is one. I do not know even if this will work if their is an internet explorer repair tool kit. But their must be someway I can change it back. Do hope someone has the answer for me.
    Thanks for previous answers.

I think TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > PROGRAMS > RESET WEB SETTINGS should do what you are needing.
