sp4 msword floppy disk save problem, in the Software forum.

Hello to all,
I've been trying to help a member, Z4u, in the Software forum who is having a problem with sp4 packs both the older version and the new v2. Both may be related to msword/floppy disk save problem. I know nothing about win2000 and thought that if someone would care to peek into this post and help Z4u out I'm sure he and I would appreciate it.

Ann - I had left that one alone since I figured he was in good hands and that you would holler if you got stuck.

I posted a reply that since he is having V2 problems (I admit to not reading the thread that closely) should allow him to use a copy of fastfat.sys from the SP4 update to overwrite the v1 version that caused his issues.

 

I was having a little trouble, in the "communication/understanding _clearly" department due to the broken English in his post. I thought the fix was pretty self explanatory. He only had two choices to choose from. If I had any knowledge of win2000 and had known how to explain to him in detail, with step by step, what he needed to do, I would have done that. I am crippled without any win2000 call or command knowledge. I could tell him to click the startbutton but that's as far as my knowledge of win2000 goes... I am still not sure if he has installed the new service pack or not. We seemed to going around in circles, reworded, but the same circles none the less. I have not even been able to find the versions of fastfat.sys one should be checking for (at least not easily). I figured this would be a "slam dunk" walk in the park for a member in the win2000 forum, particularly since the problem has been around, for so long, between the old rollup and the recently new version2. I, as you, assumed this problem was put into "good hands" and neglected to check in on the post progress. I am a little puzzled why no one from this forum has jumped in, to help...

 

I had never heard of the issue before. Granted, it's been around for a while but saving directly from Word/Excel/etc. to floppy is very seldom done and I'd simply never run across anyone who tried.
