My daughter has a micron TransPort ZX laptop running win 98 I want to upgrade it to 2000. I have found all the associatede drivers I need except the ESS 1970 Canyon 3D. A net search indicates this is a tough one. Anyone know where I can get that driver?

Not familiar with that device but if it is an older printer, it is very possible that the 9X drivers will work fine on 2K. Worth loading and trying before you spend lots of time looking for something that you may not need (or that may not even exist).

No it is some kind of sound card the everest software gives two devices, the ess1970 canyon 3d and the ess 1978 maestro. I have the maestro covered it was easy to find but the ess1970 is a bear the ess site refers you to the board manufacturer. Everest provides a sec mobile platform net search does not yield much on that.

    Ah so.

Well, the 2K plug&pray feature is pretty good so it might well detect that card and load it properly. If not, the driver search would become worthwhile.
