    Hello-
I had to reformat my hard drive, so I saved my profile's .slt file from Netscape 6.2 before wiping the hard drive. After reinstallation, I created a new profile, replaced the newly created .slt file with the old one, edited the prefs.js file to reflect the new path, but I still get this message when I try to log in:

Netscape 6 can not use the profile "Tom" because the directory containing the profile cannot be found. Please choose another profile or create a new one.

I'm stumped. Would upgrating to Netscape 7 make this an easier process? What am I doing wrong? I'd sure appreciate any help you could offer!

    Thanks,

    Liz

    Welcome to the Forum, BizBiz!

    BizBiz,

First, Netscape 6 is now defunct, old news, decrepit, dilapidated, worn out, and you don't want to use it any longer! Netscape 7.2, altho still with security vulnerabilities would be better. Or your best bet is to move to Firefox 1.0.7, and Thunderbird 1.0.6. Solid, stable, and secure browser and mail client.

I think your problem with Netscape 6, may be that when you created the new Profile you didn't give it the same name as the old Profile.

Firefox and Thunderbird will automagically migrate your Netscape Profile Data.
