I am managing about 400 Windows XP workstations in a Novell Netware 6.5 environment. Many of the users of these workstations are not proficient users of Windows XP.

I need a way to set the default power scheme on Windows XP to Always On (Presentation). I have tried using the Group Policy Editor but there are no options for managing power schemes. I have poked around in the registry and made some changes to HKCU and HKLM under powercfg but the changes I make to the default do not seem to affect new users or prior user accounts.

Has anyone out there successfully changed the default user's power schemes from Home/Office Desk without having to do it logged in as that users?

If so, please send me the steps.

    Thanks,
    ODOWDXP

log in as a regaler user then off. in the administrator account change the that account on the local machine to a power user. then log back in and set it to the way you need it then log off. log in as a administrator and remove power user then copy that account to the default user. any one that makes a new account on that box will have the sitings you have set. works for printers, wallpaper and desktop too.
