New install - locking up

Now that is definitely odd.
It could be a sensor issue, but it could be a reversed connector on the floppy drive (do you have problems with the floppy?) or a bad voltage regulator on the motherboard.

 

Yes - using alt-TAB to jump between windows also causes it to lock up.

That would seem to rule out a problem with the mouse and narrow things down to software, actually Win98. Hate to advise another re-install because the same thing could persist anyway, but can't think of another solution. Hope someone else can. Let's wait a bit and see.

Think I'd try the re-install before spending more money on the old box. Too bad you don't have the Second Edition upgrade.

Makes win98 98SE essentially.


I think you need to download the sp1 first then the sp2, been a while.
