I know this is not about a Windows based computer, but I'm looking to network a MAC Powerbook into a PC based wireless network.

My friend's girlfriend has a Powerbook G4. Anyone know what wireless cards can be used with this? Can the G4 accept standard PCMCIA laptop cards? Or must it use a Mac "airport" type card?

If anyone knows what cards are compatible or if there's a list, please share. Thanks!

This may not be of any help (not real up with MAC's). A compatable chart:

From what I have heard (not verified) that some other (other than Airport)cards will work but varies with OS version/and chipset brand that is on card. Some others will work if you can find MAC drivers for them. Probably best to stick w/Airport. Hopefully someone with more MAC experience will stop by and be of more help.

    Hi,
My hubby has an Apple G4 laptop and he installed an airport card. We were having some problems so I went to their support forum. It is much like this forum...VERY helpful.
    Here's the link: http://discussions.info.apple.com/
    Then click "powerbook "
As far as I know, the airport card is the only card that can be installed. Make sure when you install it that you push very hard and listen to hear it click in. At first we did not have it all the way in although it appears to be.
I use a PC and set up the wireless base station on my PC. It was turned on and when the airport connected, it detected the base station immediately. I was amazed.
Here is a link that you might find useful. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=95131

    Hope this helps you out.
    Karen :)
