I am currently running Windows 98SE and I was deleting some spyware that HJT detected and while going through my Windows directory I came upon a strange file. Its path is Windows\System\dt Checking properties gives no information except its size is 1.13gb has 16,514 files and was created on Mon Aug. 15 2005 and stopped adding files on Sept. 4. I dont remember adding any programs. All the other sys files give some explanation except this one. When I click on properties for a individual file it gives no info except size and date. Does anyone have any idea what this is? Since this computer is 5 years old I don't think it came with the sys. if it only a month old. Any advice? Thank you

Thanks, I will do it now. Also what is really strange all these files don't have a extension on them. Nothing like .exe or .doc I will see what spyware program reveals.

You could try doing a Find on files dated between, say, 10-15 August. If any aren't identified in their properties, run a Google search and see what they are.
