Installed XP as upgrade, where are Outlook Express emails?

I installed XP as an upgrade over 2000 and all the My Documents stuff is there and so on but I cant find the email folders that were in Outlook Express.

Are they gone?
Where should I look for them?

If windows install kept the documents would it have also kept the emails?

Search for .dbx files. You should find a bunch that have the names of your email folders. That's them.

 

i searched and did not find any .dbx files.
does that mean they are all gone?

 

The upgrade should certainly not have done away with your email. Hmmmmm.

Search for .wab which will be your address book if you were running OE from version 5.x to 6.x. If you find it, the other pieces should be nearby.

 

it did import the addresses but the emails are no where to be found. i will search for the .wab file tomorrow.

searched for the *.wab and came back with nothing.
The addresses did show up in outlook express and then transfered over to outlook when i installed office.

how and/or why would the email folders be deleted? this *****, wasn't even my computer.

 

Did you remember to fix your view options so you can do searches for system and hidden files and folders?

After showing hidden files and folders Try navigating this path C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{click on the number showing}\Microsoft\Outlook. Anyway that's where I found mine. Hope this helps.

 

Just wanted to say Thank You to all that helped me.
I finally found them, they were in a folder as specified in the post above.
Even with the "show hidden files" checked it did not show up in a search.
Butr I found them and restored them. Everything worked out fine and my sister in law is happy she didnt lose like 3 years of emails.

Now if I can get her mail fowarded to her blackberry she would be ecstatic.
