Can someone help me? I downloaded a trial program that gives me 15 days. That 15 days is up but I am unable to uninstall the program because there is no uninstall and it does not show up on the remove program list. I have even tried re-downloading the program to either get an uninstall or even to use it another 15 days. Unfortunately neither worked. It still registers as I have used the 15 days. There has to be some way of removing that time tracker or deleting it. I figure shoot, if the make does not want me to uinstall the program then they should let me use it indefinately. If you can help me in any way, please let me know. I forgot the ad that either the people who made this program let their site go down or they no longer take care of this product. I have searched for this website but cannot locate it nor can I locate the website again after reloading the program a few months (or longer). It is an authoring program.

    G.E. - Welcome to the Board :)

Not all programs have an uninstall facility - this is particularly true of 'standalone' programs - those which do not integrate with Windows. In other words they have an executable .exe which can be started from any location. In some cases the install routine for these programs merely places that executable file in Program Files and makes a link to either the Start Menu or the Desktop in the form of an icon - or both.

My guess is that the program to which you refer is of that type and simply deleting the Program Files folder containing the program will suffice - but, to be on the safe side, rename the .exe file to, say xxxxold.exe, where xxxx is the current name, and see if there are any side effects.
If there is I have yet to find the means - I think this is embedded in the registry in a location which is inaccessible to us mere mortals :)

    G.E.

I have had some luck in the past deleting the offending programs folder and then using a registry cleaner such as Regseeker. When the exe, dll, etc. files that were in the programs original folder are gone, the registry info appears to the cleaning program to be orphaned junk that can be removed. Create a restore point FIRST. Registry cleaning can go bad. I have not had it happen to me, but I know others who have.

    Thank you

I have edited the registry and have searched and deleted files which have had some association with the program. I will have to just back up everything and do a complete restore to the beginning because since I messed with the registry, my restore does not work. Yes, I had created several restore points but none worked. This way I will just clear everything. But it is a pain to have to reinstall everything I have on here again. Thank you guys anyway for your help. I knew the obvious but I thought I might find some way of salvaging the program but I guess since I downloaded it to a CD I could reistall it for another 15 days but then I would have to do the same thing over. Not worth it. I guess I should have purchased the product before I could not longer find the site. But then again, no tech support now is there? Thank you all again.

Generally they are stored as encrypted entries under a totally unrelated name to make it hard to bypass and steal their product.
Normally, if you do not plan on buying their product and paying for support, you should uninstall it before the trial expires and not reinstall it .
