I've just moved from Win98SE to XP. I previously used Outlook only for it's calendar and want to do the same in XP. I copied the Win98SE .pst and .dat files from Application Data to removable media then pasted them here:

Documents and Settings > User Name > Local Settings > Application Data > Microsoft > Office > Outlook

but my appointment and other data doesn't appear on the XP calendar. Did I use the wrong location for the files or is there something else I've missed?

    Thanks,

I think you need to export them from the 98 PC and then copy over the export file and import to the XP version. Hopefully the 98 PC with outlook is still available.

Unfortunately, the 98 PC is no longer available. So I did the following:

    1. Within Outlook, exported the saved .pst file to another file in .csv format.
    2. Imported the .csv file into Outlook > Personal Folders > Calendar.

And we seem to be in business. It appears that everything was carried forward with the exception of recurring appointments -- they are hard-coded where they appear within the date range specified for import. I believe I can go through those now and re-specify them as recurring and elimininate that issue.

I never thought of exporting the .pst file for transfer, but your reply turned on a light and helped around that ommission. Thanks for the help.
