Using the pc to pc connection wizard in win2000, I selected a user name/password for my laptop. The system required a reboot for changes to take effect. However, it wouldn't accept the user name/password I chose! Tech support suggests the entire hard drive needs to be replaced simply because of a faulty password. That is so hard to believe! How do I get into Windows now?

I'm sure you're a nice person Colleen and wouldn't be telling anything but the truth but rule #6 on this BB states:

I generally have been known to color outside the lines a time or two but when I give my word I always keep it.

Perhaps if you list your address someone will respond via e-mail and help you out.

    Good luck.

It's not exactly clear what your problem is, but to log onto a w2k computer directly or over a network connection the user/password you use has to be one that already exists in its User database.
