Are you receiving an error message? Have you considered that your ISP's mail server could be down?

    HI
    Thanks for your reply.
I tried setting up a new identity and I'm glad to say it worked. I also was able to import my files from the old identity.
    Thanks again
    Lewis

    Does your old identity work?

Under your new identity ensure that under Tools>Accounts>Mail>Your Mail>Properties that all the information is properly recorded. Under "Server" is your mail server, incoming and outgoing typed correctly? Have you checked "My server requires authentication "? Is your connection listed correctly under "Connection" and have you checked "always connect to this account using... "?

Often times when you can't send email it's because of a corrupt sent items.dbx file. If you still have your old identity, you can check this by opening OE and clicking on tools>options>send and uncheck the line that says "save a copy of sent messages in the sent items folder ". Then try sending an email. If it works the fix is to delete the sent items.dbx file that belongs to this identity in windows explorer. OE will create a new one the next time you open it.
