everytime after i adjust the monitor display parameters, like to a certain width, height, vertical and horizontal alignment and stuffs,

from time to time, it'll automatically readjust itself...resulting in the screen suddenly become much wider for instance.

then, i have to manually readjust the screen in which the screen will automatically readjust itself again after a while.

    and the cycle repeats.

if it happens, it only happens after i enter desktop.
i've run disk check, virus scan, spyware scan, and adware scan here.

    how do i solve this?

Is this a new monitor you put on your system ?
Make sure you have the latest drivers for the monitor, and if there was another monitor previous get rid of the files from it.

To uninstall the monitor from WinXP, click Start > go to Control Panel > click the Performance And Maintenance category to find the System > click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button. In the next window, double-click Monitors. Now, right-click the monitor model and select Uninstall. Follow the prompts to finish the procedure.

My first thought would be that you have an unstable or unsupported refresh rate.
Each monitor has what is called a bandwidth , the number of pixels per second it can handle. This is the product of the resolution (say 1024x768 pixels per frame) in Pixels and the refresh rate (75 Hz for example 75Hz = 75 Frames per second)So (Pixels/frame)(Frames/Sec)= Pixels/sec

If you increase one, you must lower the other. It is possible that you have the refresh rate to high and your video card resets to a lower resolution to compensate when the monitor can't keep up.

    Hi oshwyn5,

Possible but not likely, if I'm reading the original post correctly, the changes made are to the Monitor controls, not to the refresh rate or resolution.

I tend to agree with Torpedo on this, its either the Monitor itself or the video card.

    Regards - Charles
