When I started my computer this morning, it started to run, gave one long beep code and shut down. It would not start again. I had to turn off the power, and turn it back on again, to restart the computer. It did the same thing again. On the next try it booted right up. Any help with this problem, greatly Appreciated.

Well, a quick check shows that as a discontinued motherboard and no sign of much info on it at Soyo.

I am going with it having an Award bios like most Soyo's

Based on your symptoms (it started to run, gave one long beep code and shut down. It would not start again. I had to turn off the power, and turn it back on again, to restart the computer. It did the same thing again. On the next try it booted right up.) I would say you have a failing power supply. It is possible your power supply is giving the beep , not the motherboard. Or it is possible the motherboard is giving it to let you know that the power is not powering things up correctly.

I would say step one is to try to boot with a known good power supply of equal or greater wattage than what you now have.

You are right, it is an Award Modular Bios v6.00pg according to my AIDA System Information program. I will try another Power Supply and get back to you. Thanks

Took the working Power Supply out of our other computer, put it in mine. Does the same thing. What do you think?

Nest step is to try one stick of RAM at a time .
See if you have a bad stick .

I took all 3 sticks of RAM out. Replaced them one at a time, starting the computer each time after installing one. The computer started just fine each time. Checked System Properties after each stick, to make sure each stick showed up.The computer has started just fine for the last ten starts. What ever I did, removing and reinstalling the memory, seems to have fixed the problem. I want to thank you for your help.

Sounds like you got lucky and it was just that the stick of RAM in bank 0 (the one closest to the processor) came loose.
Normally the memory controller reads the stick in bank 0 and sets things like refresh rate and cas latency based on the specifications of that stick (this is why sometimes mixed sticks of ram will work in one order and not another).
If this stick comes loose, the motherboard knows there is RAM present, but it cannot set the values.

Thought I had got lucky. This evening, the computer did the same thing again. Guess I am back to zero again. It gave the one long beep twice, then died same as before. I had to shut off the power, and try to start up again. It took two times to boot. Any help appreciated. Thanks

    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/everest.html

    Free system info tool
    Go to computer/ sensor
Look at the power readings. IF any voltage is off by over 10% you need a new power supply. If they are off by 5% keep an eye on them and see if they fluctuate. If so , new power supply.
I am beginning to wonder if you have a power supply beep alarm.
