I recently had a power supply fail. It was causing my computer to lockup or reboot at random times. I got a new power supply, then reloaded XP Pro due to the registry errors I was getting from the random shutdowns and reboots. Now I have no access to D: or E: I can see both of them in computer management. It correctly shows how much of the drives are used and how much free space is on each. However, if I go to properties for each drive in My Computer, it says 0 bytes for the total size for both drives. When I try to open the drive it says "access denied ", just like when a user has no permissions to access the drive. I am the only user on my computer, besides administrator, and the guest account is off. Anyone run across this problem before?

i fixed it after poking aroud for a while. you must disable simple file sharing. the go to drive properties.
click the security tab and go to advanced.
then go to the "owner" tab.
check the box that says "replace owner on subcontents and objects."
then select the user or group yuo want to make the owner and hit apply.
it will give a popup window that asks if you want to change ownership, click "yes." then it will do it's thing. you now have access. hope this helps anyone else who runs across this problem.
