Whenever I have prepaired a mail and I click the SEND button during the moment that automatic mail retrieving is working, the whole OE hangs and I can only get out by Ctr-Alt-Sup/TaskMan/End (all OE processes mark "not reponding ")

    Any help please?

    Thanks!

Does it work if you wait for it to finish retrieving new email?
Is this a large email? Attatchments? A fancy html background wallpaper or template?

Is it a specific email address or just any?

Double check your server settings (tools/ accounts/ mail /your account / properties/ servers.
Check that the smtp settings have not been changed.

Check your antivirus program and see if it has any mail monitoring features. If so, disable that feature and then give it a try. Close the preview pane in OE before doing this in case it works and there's some type of nasty in the mail. If it works more than likely it's a glitch with the av program but if you leave the email scanner disabled I'd be sure to save any mail with an attachment to a folder somewhere on the hard drive (not in OE itself) and then scan the .eml file manually with your av before opening it.

Yes , this is ocurring with all mails, all destinations and all sizes.
All mail account setting are unchanged and long time ok.
When not in progress of retrieving mail, all goes ok.

I do not have AV checking mail. It was done with my last Norton Corp AV update, but I have turned it off.

    Thanks for trying

It's possible that one of the emails on the server is causing the problem. Do you have web access to this account? If so, visit it there and move all of the email in the inbox to another folder there. Then try OE and see if it works. If so, you may be able to eliminate the offending email by moving a few emails at a time back to the inbox and then try retrieving them in OE. Don't know if this will work for you or not. It does for me with my ISP. If OE manages to retrieve the emails you move back to the inbox, try a couple more until you find the one that's causing the problem. If OE hangs when you move some back, then go back and move them out of the inbox one by one. Process of elimination.

I don't have webmail for any accounts.
However I don't quite get you. My inbox is perfectly empty and except when I make the mistake to not look if my OE is idle when sending out an email, ALL incoming and outgoing are working perfectly.

Only in the exact case I mentioned things go wrong.

Ok. If I'm understanding correctly, you can receive your email just fine. It's only when sending an email that you have problems. If this is correct, in OE, click tools>options>send and uncheck the line that says save a copy of sent messages in the sent items folder. It's possible that your sent items folder is corrupt. If it works then, the fix is to close OE and delete the sent items.dbx file. In fact, you might just delete it right away (make a copy first) and then give it a try. The sent items folder will be recreated when you start OE. If there's anything in there that you want you can move it to a different folder in OE before deleting it (assuming you can access the folder in OE).

If you dont' know where sent items.dbx is located, in OE, click tools>options>maintainance and click on the store folder button. It'll show you the folder where the file is located.

Good. Glad to hear that did the trick and thanks for letting us know. Next thought would have been the outbox. After that, I'd have been stumped. :)
