I originally had a computer set up to have two users with two desktops. We got a new computer and no longer need two users on the old one so I went in through the control panel and deleted myself as a user on the older computer. Now the system boots up and asks for a username and password, when it was not set that way to start and that little box is still not checked...and it won't accept any combination of username or password that we have ever used....

I am able to hit F8 as the computer boots up and get on by entering in safe mode and then using administrator as a username...but now what? I have tried a system restore to several dates in the past, but none of them get me back to where we were previously.

I have the new computer and am online with a satellite connection. Is there anyone that I can chat with that might be able to walk me through a fix? I have MSN IM and am called whirledvision

    Thank you, Kathe

In safe mode log in with username administrator and no password (unless you set one)
Now go to start/ run and type
    control userpasswords2
    hit enter
    Uncheck the box
"users must have a name and password to use computer "
    apply and reboot.
You should now be able to boot to windows and will be auto logged in as default user.

You can also go to control panel/ users and change the password on any user accounts still there.
