Outlook Express is blocking images of mail I receive. In particular, news story images are blocked. I can turn it off for a single email but it returns on the next one. How can I permanently turn off this irritating feature?
    Thanx, -Gilane

    Launch OE

    Go to tools/ options/ security

Uncheck the box "Block images" and external Html

Apply, close OE , restart PC and launch OE

  3. to hide this advert.

gilane--Are you talking about two different image blocking situations?
I presume you mean "images in mail" not that the email, itself, is blocked.
And are these images being sent as attachments or inserted into the body of the email message?
Oshwyn5 has given you one suggestion. Also in OE Tools|Options|Security tab| make sure "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened..." in addition to "Block images and other external content..." (as mentioned by oshwyn5) are both unchecked. In OE Tools|Options|Send tab|HTML settings|make sure "Send pictures with messages" is unchecked. This sounds like it affects only sending messages, but people have reported it affects receiving messages with images as well. And for any changes you make, be sure to click Apply|OK to exit.
Are you still talking about Outlook Express here? Or rather Internet Explorer? Are you getting some images but not others, or are all images blocked? Is there anything in the space where the images should be? In OE it would be unusual that you can see the news story, but not the related images.
If this concerns IE rather than OE, post back. There are other fixes for IE than those mentioned for OE. (In IE the simplest are click Refresh, or right click on the image|Show Picture, or IE Tools|Internet Options|Advanced tab|Multimedia section|make sure "Show Pictures" is checked. But there still are other causes and fixes.)
