Hi. Wondering if you can help me retrieve lost email account. It just disappeared a couple of weeks ago along with address book and latest bookmarks. I was prompted to create a new account.
    I followed your pathway suggestion:
documents and settings-username-application data-mozilla-profile-default (thise is the only file available)-vdttq7qg.slt-mail-file that I believe is my lost email account due to large size-inbox. But then I am prompted to choose a program with which to open the file. I've tried several but have not been able to open the large file to confirm whether it was indeed my lost email.
If you can tell me how to access this file and how I can add it to my newly created account, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks

Try this. Go to start/ run and type
    Netscape /p
    hit enter
This should launch the profile manager.
See if more than one profile are listed.

If so what happened was that netscape was open , but failed to recognize this . You clicked open and rather than relaunching or opening a new tab or window, it created and launched a new profile.

You should just be able to choose the other profile.
Once you verify which one is the one you want you can do the netscape /p option again and choose manage profiles and delete the other one.
(If default is the only one, choose it)

    Welcome to the Forum, oret_ca!

    oret_ca,

Try to open the Inbox in your Mail Account folder with Wordpad. Just how large is the file?

Can't find what? If the profile location is problem, the link I gave will tell you how to deal with, if you have WinXP, and don't know how to fish out the profiles.
Right click|Open with Wordpad (you have to select from the list of programs) will help you see what is in the Inbox, but would not help much.
As for accessing the profile manager, there are two way to do it.
One is to go to Start|all Programs|Netscape7.2| select profile manager. The other one is from the desktop shortcut. Right click|Properties| add "-p" in the Target line. Leave one keyboard space between the existing stuff in the target line, and -p (don't use quotation marks). I don't use default conditions, but the final effect would be to have something like: "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape7.2\netscp.exe" -p
Apply, save. I works for me. You will have to remove the -p to avoid the Profile Manager.

I tied opening with Wordpad-gives me an idea of what is inthe file but difficult to read because of format. How can I reinstate the original format?

Also went to Start|all Programs|Netscape7.2, but when I click on profile manager, I get directed to Netscape's homepage. What am I doing wrong?

We eliminate two out of three ways. I did not see that looking at Inbox with Wordpad would be of much use. I use the technique only because I have several accounts of the same ISP, and Netscape does not store on the hard drive the easily recognizible name I give the account.
so, you may have had a "pop.isp.net" account folder, which contains all the mail. After all this thread, I have no idea if anything much was done.
Considering that you lack the mre recent bookmarks, the entire profile may be messed up, otherwise creating a new account, with the same settings as before and then copy/paste the old Inbox (renamed to avoid overwriting) would restore what you had.
You, apparently have only one profile, default. But you need a profile manager to create a new profile (Manage profiles|create profile), witrh a different name. I have a default1 profile which works.
Don't try to "save time ", start from scratch with a new profile .

I am using WinXP Home, and I have never seen anything as described above. I tried typing netscape, or Start|Run. I located the rogram, through browse, and added /p, and I got an error.
I am not even going to bother with this approach, but should anyone want to bring up the Profile Manager, I type -p, following the other Target info, and invariably got the PM. Any other way, using /p gives me an error.
Can you verify what you are trying to do?
