By error the program to adjust settings on my mouse is gone. I downloaded the software via net from Microsoft and while it downloaded 7MB I still do not have anyway to adjust my mouse, advice?

If I recall correctly, there should be entries both in the Control Panel and under the Start menu. Have both gone?

    csnudelman,

What kind of mouse do you have? A regular Intellimouse, with 2 buttons & a wheel, or a regular Optical mouse with 2 buttons & a wheel, or a Programable Optical mouse with 2 top buttons & a wheel, & 2 side buttons? Or even fancier?

Mine is a Programable Optical, with 2 top buttons & a wheel & 2 side buttons. The reason I am telling you this is because if yours is like mine, or fancier, then a 7MB download is probably not the correct software for it. My Optical Mouse Installation disk has a total of about 20MB on it. My Installation disk says IntelliPoint 3.2.

The basic 2 button mouse you're seeing in Control Panel is the Windows default mouse settings, built into windows so that Windows will recognize that a mouse is attached to the system & can have basic settings applied to it.

You should have gotten some sort of installation software with your mouse when you purchased it, even if it is a plain Jane mouse. Either on a floppy, or a CD.

Look around & see if you can find either a floppy, or a CD, that says Intellipoint on it. It will probably be a CD if your mouse is an optical, or a programable one. If you do find one, "first" make sure it is for the mouse you are using & then un-install the software you downloaded. Then, try installing the software for your mouse from the installation disk.
