I am trying to remove a 50mb program using Add/Remove. The InstallShield Wizard gives a 3 second message that it is copying its files to my system but then the message box disappears and nothing else happens.

Clicking on the Change/Remove tab just repeats the same. I tried a reboot but that didn't change anything.

Any ideas how to fix this?

    thanks

Locate the programs program files folder and see if there is a uninstall (or unwise.exe) file there . If so , click it.

    Oshwyn5,

Thanks. Unfortunately it doesn't have its own uninstall file.

Also, I ran the Add/Remove just fine on a different program so its working ok otherwise. I know I can delete it manually but I would like to do it the propper way to get rid of the registry items etc.

    Any other suggestions?

If you still have the program, try reinstalling it and then uninstalling it.

Reinstall on top of its self and an uninstall is good advice and one given here frequently, but if that doesn't work perhaps alternatives to this maybe that the uninstall is being fussy and either a safemode startup will produce better results or using "taskmanager" to endtask on all processes that may be running in the background and is not necessary for system operation. If any of the files or drivers for the program your trying to uninstall is opened or loaded or if anything is interfering with the uninstall process it can get fussy.

If none of this helped perhaps if the name of the program was known there are specific thorough manual cleanup instructions that can be found. There may even be a tool (utility) for such a cleanup. Many well known applications do have and "support site supply" such tools or uninstallers for cleanup/removal.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm going to try My Uninstaller.
