How can I perform full file integrity check of ALL files in my Hard Drive
I not mean to integrated file checker in Windows (SFC/scannow).
I asking this because last night I perform disc defragmenting with O@O 8 defrag and suddenly power goes off. After restart I did not see anything strange but... I`m afraid that is some file is missing or corrupted due to an power loss and I don`t much understand file defragmention routines/methods.
I performed check disk but is not errors.
I found lot of file integrity checkers in internet but they first analyze/calculates MD5 checksums for files and on second analyze (e.g after a couple of days) displays what files was modified or damaged .
    B.T.W
I perform built in file checker in Windows internet.I put my Win installation CD and check begins but there is no log for this (or I forgot check Even Viewer :) )
And for end I know that the internet check only important system files)
    Regards

I don't think your going to find anything better than what you've found.

Checking file integrity is not easy. Think of the strange markup that is in a MS Word document for example. If you look at it with Notepad it already looks corrupted.

I think that you have done your due diligence and are probably fine.

LazyB - Welcome to the Board :)

You have no stand point to check against unless you have a mirror copy of your disk immediately before you started to defrag - and I do mean immediately :)
Exactly the point I am making.

The best you can do is to run System File Checker - that should ensure that the Protected files essential to Windows running smoothly are present and correct. The results of any changes will be shown in Event Viewer between the points shown in the screenshot.

O.K. If I understand well, there is no method to verify file integrity check (I mean on all files, not only system files) unless I try to verify file by file manually :D

    Thanks

From a cmd prompt, chkdsk /r will do some additional checking but only for major and obvious problems like orphaned files or the like. A blown defrag could well have created a few of those though.

I know you said you ran a check disk but there are several levels of file and disk examination with /r being the most exaustive. Even better if your file system is NTFS where the /r switch will cause some additional file verification.

Yes,I use NTFS but I forget that there is other options when performing chkdsk /f
I use you recommended command...but now I don`t know does Check Disk writes log to Event Log .....generally does checking disk writes event log?
When I run chkdsk in read only mode in CMD (without switches) usually founds errors similar to this for e.g MFT reserved area issue
And for end does anybody know to write simple batch file or script which will be executed on every reboot to check disk for errors
    Thanks

I know the chkdsk /r will write to the application event log. Event source is Winlogon and this one (from my PC) is typical. Note that Stages 4 & 5 are done with /r and the /f switch only gives you the first 3 with no file data verification.
