If you mean having IE display the contents of your Favorites folder when you first open the program, then....
    1. Open IE
    2. Go to Tools/Internet Options
    3. Put the path to that folder into the Address field on the General tab
    4. Click on Okay

The next time you open IE, it will display the contents of your Favorites folder.

In IE, I can use FILE > Import and Export to export bookmark.htm into any directory that I want. Open that bookmark.htm and it can be set as home page.

    It don't update automatically though.

Is there a location that I can use to point to the origional Favorites?

    Thanks

In XP, the path to the Favorites folder is:
X:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Favorites (where "X" is the letter of the main drive--usually C-- and "UserName" is the name of the account logged onto the computer).

    Thanks folks. :)

It never ceases to amaze me at how a simple tip or question can make a difference to how I use computers or the Internet.

I am one of the folks that have had computer hardware and software, EPROM burners, programming in assembler, basic, C, C++ Pacal etc. even before the Radio Shack brought affordable systems to the public and still am lead to new exciting :cool places by YOU folks long after thinking there can't be more.

Since I usually have a couple of thousand of the favorite sites over the last couple of years out on the web; (That is too many to easily categorize and keep in IE Favorites.)

I have always used an open database such as Powermarks that can be searched by a few key words, of my choosing, such as machining, astronomy, aviation, physics etc. These sites can be recalled by partial words such as mach ast avi ph etc. to narrow the list down automatically as each letter is entered.

Now I'll be using IE Favorites as a quick loading home page to give quick access to my "really" favorite hundred or so.

    Thanks all :) :)
