Help. KMOD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED after rollup

After doing the Win2K roll-up on a Dell PE2600 the server would startup then display the BSOD midway through startup.

This traces to an "access denied" type failure.

The system would not boot into safe mode, the bios and PERC fw are up to date. I had to go into recovery console and uninstall the update to get the system functional again.

I could really use some pointers here. I googled and ms-searched the error and found only co-commiserates and no solutions.

I hate to quit on a problem but unless I can nail this down, I'm beginning to just think it may be in the client's best interest to quickly upgrade to Win2K3 instead of throwing more money at this problem.

 

If you are in a position to upgrade, I completely agree with you.

Next best would be to open a support case with microsoft and let them analyze a dump of the stop error. They can probably give you the specific cause of the stop with maybe a mini-dump or mayby a full dump. We did have one guy who was good with them but he isn't available at this time.

If you prefer to take a crack at it here, we'll be happy to try but it isn't going to be real quick probably. A dump file would help since occasionally there is something a non-expert can gain from it and any relevant event log entries would be good as well.
