I want to reformat my whole hardrive but I could not do it.

I used my Windows 98 boot disk to enter and I typed

and it would not let me. I was able to do this when i had windows ME and 98

    format xp system

    Hey there

ya have to delete the partition.
boot up with you boot disk again
    and at the a:>
    type: fdisk

    remove the non-dos partion
    then re-create the dos partition
    and youwill be ok.

another way is to download a program called: delpart
it does the same thing (deletes the partition).

let know how ya make out.

    reformat winxp

Simple way is to enter bios & set first boot device=cdrom, second boot device=c
Have your winxp in tray & reboot. You will see menu "Boot from cdrom" press any key to continue. Setup will begin. From the next few menus you can delete primary dos partition & create a new winxp partition from the cd. Real slick i say :)
