A while back I made some changes in Folder Options by editing file types. Since I really did not know what I was doing I created a situation where folders now open in new windows regardless of of the Browse Folders setting under the General tab. I have tried most obvious suggestions. There are a couple of reports of this problem when searching but no solutions.

    1.
Open Folder Options in Control Panel.

    • Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    • Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Folder Options.

    2.
On the General tab, under Browse Folders, click Open each folder in its own window.

Thanks for the assistance. I am currently looking into the registry changes. I use Lavasoft RegHance so copies and backups are easy. I wil try to post the solution if I am successful. Take Care
