    Any ideas please?

Microphone input not working - checked michrophone, checked mixer, connections etc. Recording control. Playback is fine but cannot get any input in. Tried testing it with MSN messenger, also SKYPE and sound recorder. No Joy.

Have tried updating soundcard driver - what else can I try? Running XP and the sound card driver is VIA AC'97 audio controller (WDM). No conflicts showing up?

Very odd. Anyone experienced this problem and if so how solved? Thanks

    Mike

    Hi Mike

make sure that Options > Advanced Controls is on (unless greyed out), and check out what's on the advanced settings for the microphone input channel

...may find things like an "Alternate Microphone" checkbox there which could be messing you up.

Does it say "Crystal WDM" pls (various chips get used for AC97)

    best wishes, HJ

Yes, I might think that it may be using standard Windows drivers that will run the playback OK, but not the microphone and maybe other parts of the audio system.
The audio drivers should be on the CD that came with your motherboard/computer, alternatively you could find the drivers for your make/model at the website of the manufacturer in case updated drivers have been released.
Everest in my signature may help with information about your system.
